Rick A. Shacket, D.O., M.D.

Dr. Rick Shacket is the medical director of the Arizona
Hemorrhoid Center. He is a board certified specialist,
certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Proctology
in 1991; the American Board of Laser Surgery in 1992,
and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
in 1992. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser
Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Shacket is from Bloomfield
Hills, Michigan.
Dr. Shacket received a Bachelors Degree from Hillsdale College,
in Hillsdale, Michigan. He received his Medical Degree from
the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic
Medicine of the Pacific, in Pomona, California. He received
postdoctoral training in homeopathic medicine from the American
Medical College of Homeopathy, in Phoenix, Arizona. He is
dually licensed by the State of Arizona as a Doctor of Medicine
(Homeopathic), and as an Osteopathic Physician and Surgeon.
He served an internship at Hillside Hospital, in San Diego,
California. At Humana Hospital Desert Valley, in Phoenix,
Arizona, Dr. Shacket received postdoctoral training in the
specialty of Proctology from Dr. Jerome J. Bernhard, President
of the American Osteopathic College of Proctology. Doctors
Bernhard and Shacket cofounded the first Hemorrhoid Care
Medical Clinic, in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1986. Dr. Shacket
founded the second Hemorrhoid Care Medical Clinic, in San
Diego, California, in 1988.
Dr. Shacket is a national lecturer
on the subject of proctology and hemorrhoids. He is the author
of most of the text found on this web site, of a medical
textbook on the treatment of hemorrhoids, and of numerous
articles that have appeared in medical publications and newspapers
throughout the country.
Elliott Schmerler, M.D., M.D.(H.)
Dr. Elliott Schmerler has been board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic
Surgery, the American Board of Family Physicians and the Federation of State
Medical Boards. A Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Schmerler
has been a frequent lecturer at the Annual Scientific Conventions of the American
Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Recognized as an expert by his peers he was elected
to serve as an examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Schmerler training included a 5-year Fellowship, approved
by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, in Plastic,
Reconstructive, and Cosmetic Surgery by Morton Mazaheri,
M.D. Dr. Mazaheri is a recognized sculptor, artist and a
Beverly Hills plastic surgeon to the stars
Dr. Schmerler has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor
at the University of Nevada, Reno, in Family Medicine, and
has published numerous articles in major scientific journals
including the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Schmerler
has also served as Medical Director and Chief of Staff at
Lakeside Community Hospital in Nevada. Dr. Schmerler, a Biomedical
Engineer, also holds a U.S. Patent for an intelligent stethoscope
he developed for 3M corporation.
Dr. Schmerler has also served as an instructor in Advanced
Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced
Pediatric Life Support and received postdoctoral training
in homeopathic medicine from the American Medical College
of Homeopathy, in Phoenix, Arizona
Dr. Schmerler has remained active in his communities by
donating his time and expertise. He is a speaker for the
American Cancer Society and a volunteer for The Childrens
Cabinet, a free clinic.
